Montefiore MC, in Italy, Marche, 62019, Via Luigi Flamini, Castello di Montefiore Recanati The Borgo was built on the border between the Lombard settlements of the Duchy of Spoleto and the Byzantines of Pentapoli, on the top of a hill overlooking the western part of the Musone and Potenza valleys. The castle, built by the people of Recanates at the end of the thirteenth century, is visible from Recanati and from all the surrounding landscape, up to the sea, Monte Conero and the villages of the hills that surround it. It is believed that the Tower, located in the center of the Castle and forty meters high, was erected to sight and report the dangers and attacks. The church, dedicated to San Biagio, which has been reported since 1184, was erected as a parish in 1462. It exceeded 300 souls in the seventeenth century; in the nineteenth century they had risen to 703. The transformations from a walled castle to a rural village are found in the architectural features that led to continuous interventions. Finally, in 2000, the restoration work of the Castle was started, which is still not open to the inside today, but from now on Montefiore is the destination of every visitor who wishes to know better the noble traditions of a people that preserves the memory of ancient music. and dances of the Castellana and understand the poetry and the beauties of the sweet landscape that is between the valleys of Musone and Potenza, between the sea and the blue mountains.
